Event: Macroeconomic effects of changing demographics
On November 16, 2018, I’m co-organizing (with Gylfi Zoega) a conference in Reykjavik, hosted by the Central Bank of Iceland.
The conference features five academic presentations, including talks by senior economists Yunus Aksoy (Birkbeck College, London) and Gylfi Zoega (Birkbeck College and University of Iceland).There will also be presentations by younger economists, including Marías Halldór Gestsson (University of Iceland)as well as two PeRCent PhD students: Thorsteinn Sigurdur Sveinsson andFilipe A. B. Vieira.
The conference also has a roundtable discussion, focusing on the theme: Robust Pension Systems: Lessons Learned. I shall chair the panel discussion, and the panellists comprise Torben M. Andersen (University of Aarhus), Thorvaldur Gylfason (University of Iceland), J. Michael Orszag (Willis Towers Watson, UK), Arnór Sighvatsson (Central Bank of Iceland) and Arna Olafsson (CBS and the Icelandic Fiscal Council).
The conference ends with a reception, also hosted by the Central Bank of Iceland, where Már Gudmundsson, Governor of the Central Bank of Iceland, will give a speech entitled: ”Ten Years Later: What Have We Learned from the Financial Crisis?”
